Dr. Zuhair Afaneh is a senior healthcare executive and Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes with over 25 years of clinical and administrative experience in the United States and the UAE. He currently serves as Chief Medical Officer at Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital (SKGH) in Umm Al Quwain, which is owned by the Presidential Court (PC) and part of the Sheikh Khalifa Initiative Hospitals. In this role, he leads strategic planning, clinical governance, and operational transformation.

Dr. Afaneh has held key leadership positions, including Regional Chief Medical Officer for Al Dhafra Hospitals under SEHA, where he oversaw multiple facilities and led initiatives in clinical integration, quality improvement, and system-wide performance enhancement. His academic roles include serving as Adjunct Clinical Professor and Advisory Board Member at the College of Medical Sciences, RAK Medical & Health Sciences University, and Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Sharjah. He previously served as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Wright State University in Ohio.

He has received multiple honors, including the Abu Dhabi Medical Leadership and Management Award (2012) and the Academic Achievement Award in Medical Management from the American Association for Physician Leadership (2005). His board certifications include the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Medical Quality, and the Specialty Certificate in Endocrinology (UK). He also holds credentials as a Certified Physician Executive (CPE), Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), and Certified Diabetes Educator.
