Outpatient Procedure | Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital Umm Al Quwain

Outpatient

If you have an outpatient appointment, you won’t be staying overnight. You will usually have a consultation followed by tests, scans, or possibly a minor procedure.

You must bring your original UAE Identity Card for every visit to the hospital. You must also bring your insurance / health card with you at each visit. Our clerks are here to assist you with your registration and any questions you might have.

Please call and make an appointment to see the doctor. Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to allow for registration, and try not to be late for your appointment.

We always do our best to keep waiting times as short as possible, and aim to see most of our patients within 30 minutes of their appointment time. However, sometimes there are unavoidable delays and you may be kept waiting for any of the following reasons:

  • The doctor may need to spend extra time with some patients
  • Emergency cases may have to be seen
  • Doctors may be delayed or called away
  • Some patients arrive late

Note: missed and late appointments

Please note that your appointment is only valid for that particular day. If you miss your appointment, you may not be seen and this will result in a rescheduled appointment for another day. We ask that you help us to reduce waiting times and avoid causing inconvenience to other patients.

Follow-up Appointments

Depending on the procedure you have had, you may need a follow-up appointment with your consultant. You may also need to have stitches removed. Please make an appointment for your follow-up.

Consent

When a consultant, nurse, or therapist asks you to agree to any form of examination or treatment, it is your choice whether to go ahead or not. It is quite acceptable for you to say no or ask for more information. Your consent is essential.

When having any operation, we ask you to sign a consent form to show that you agree to the procedure and fully understand what will happen. The consent form is available in Arabic and English, and interpreters may be available if required. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you need to fully understand the procedure.
