Newborn Hearing Screening Program:
Your baby will be given a series of routine health checks in the first few days of life, which will include our hearing screening. The Audiologist carries out the hearing screening. It does not hurt and is not uncomfortable for the baby. The test will be done while your baby is asleep. No anesthetic or sedatives are used.
Diagnostic assessment and planned follow-ups are offered to babies where routine newborn hearing screening is incomplete or where pass results have not been obtained.
Outpatient Clinic:
Our service is split into routine and specialist care. Our routine service provides hearing tests for children of all ages as well as care for children with middle-ear disorders. Our specialist service provides care for children with significant hearing loss, and hearing tests for children with complex needs.
Our routine clinics help to assess preschool and school age children to see if they have a middle ear disorder (for which they may need to be referred to an ear, nose and throat surgeon), or a more serious hearing disorder which requires further investigation.
We also offer specialist hearing assessments for children with autism spectrum disorder or other complex needs.
