The radiology department at Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital – Umm Al Quwain provides screening and diagnostic radiology services to SKGH inpatients and outpatients as well as SKGH emergency department patients.

The department staff aims to provide patients with the safe and high quality services through compassionate caring attitudes, culturally sensitive and effective communication with uncompromising hospitality.

The operation radiology timing is as following:

Sunday through Thursday: 08:00 – 16:00 hours.

For outpatient radiology services are closed every Friday and Saturday and on declared public holidays.

For emergency patients, the radiology department offers: 24 X 7 availability of radiographers (X-ray, CT scan and MR) and sonographers (General US and Ob/Gyn US). 24 X 7 services under specialists/consultants supervision

Which radiology services are we offering?

The highly trained staff at the SKGH radiology department offer expert screening and diagnostic procedures and services.​ This encompasses routine and specialized services in the following modalities: X-ray, CT scan, MRI, Bone Dexa, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound and mammography. Besides its routine radiology activity in general hospital, the SKGH radiology department delivers specialized imaging procedures as mentioned below:

  • Gynecology: Pelvis advanced imaging (MRI diffusion and perfusion), pelvic mass workup.
  • Obstetrics: early pregnancy US, first trimester US, second trimester US, anomaly scan, third trimester/ fetal wellbeing US, Obstetric Doppler (uterine, umbilical, middle cerebral artery and ductus venosus). Fetal and Placenta implantation disorders imaging (placenta accrete, increta and percreta) US and MRI.
  • Fertility imaging (male and female):

    Male: MRI Pituitary, prostate and seminal vesicle US, scrotal Doppler US.

    Female: MRI Pituitary, endovaginal US, Hysterosalpingography.

  • Gastroenterology: Multiphasic liver enhanced CT scan, CT Enterography, CT water enema, MRI enterography, MRI liver, MRCP.
  • Surgery: C-arm during surgical operations,
  • Breast Imaging: Breast US, mammography, Breast MRI
  • Neurology and Neurosurgery:

    Early diagnosis of hyperacute brain ischemic stroke in CT and MRI, circle of Willis Angiography CT/MR, supra-aortic trunks Angio-CT/MR.

    Advanced brain multimodality MRI for diagnosis, follow-up and treatment (Diffusion, perfusion, DTI and spectroscopy), 3D MR myelography. Spinal cord imaging for injury and other disease.

  • Urology: Retrograde urethrogram, voiding cystourethrogram, prostate and seminal vesicle US/ MRI, scrotal Doppler US.
  • Orthopedics: Arthrogram, Arthroscan and arthro MR, MRI musculoskeletal system assessment
  • Cardiology: calcium scoring, coronary CT Angio with lowest radiation dose (prospective and retrospective techniques), TAVI planning, Cardiac MRI with perfusion and viability.
  • Vascular: Advanced vascular imaging: Renal artery Doppler, upper and lower limbs arteries Doppler. Aorta CT Angio, upper/lower limbs arteries CT Angio, endovascular stent grafts planning stent for abdominal aortic aneurysms.
  • Trauma: SWI pulse sequence MRI for Diffuse axial injury assessment, MRI for spinal cord injuries, whole body CT, Angio-CT.
  • ICU: MRI/CT brain and different body parts under general anesthesia.
  • Neonatology: Trans cranial US, Hip US (DDH), imaging for different neonatal and pediatric elective and emergency condition via ultrasound and MRI techniques.
  • To complete the requested radiology services, the radiology caregivers begin by identifying the patient, obtaining a history from the patient/patient relatives and/or the referring clinician in order to ensure patient safety within the radiology department.

    The department caregivers will propose the most appropriate radiology modality in order to answer the clinical question raised by the referring clinician. The department’s caregivers are utilizing evidence based guidelines and advanced technology in order to reduce the patient received radiation dose, reduce the risk of contrast media adverse reactions and to ensure patient safety in the radiology department. Our activities are fully eco-friendly as our department adopted the 100% digital imaging solution.
